Biography
Born in 1902 and raised in Madona, Nikolay Yakunin embraced a career in the military that reflected both the training and the discipline of the young Latvian nation. He developed a reputation for steady leadership among the men he led, always mindful of the responsibilities placed upon an officer.
Throughout the dark years of war he remained committed to his duties, and in 1944 he passed away after giving so much in service to his comrades and country.
