Biography
Noel Godfrey Chavasse combined a brilliant medical mind with an inspired sense of duty, excelling as a surgeon and as a devoted officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps.
Twice decorated with the Victoria Cross for his extraordinary bravery in tending the wounded under fire, he finally succumbed to illness in 1917 and rests at Brandhoek New Military Cemetery, where his courage continues to inspire.
