Obadiah German

Biography

Obadiah German was born in 1766 and lived through the American Revolution and the early decades of the new republic. His life of seventy-six years allowed him to witness the transformation of the colonies into a sovereign nation and the subsequent growth of American institutions.

He was buried in North Norwich Cemetery, where his memory is preserved among the graves of his neighbors and contemporaries. His long life and respectful burial reflect the esteem in which he was held by his community.
