Octave Linet

1870–1962 (age 92)

Biography

Octave Linet cultivated a painterly language rooted in the late nineteenth-century tradition while embracing the expressive possibilities of modern brushwork, bringing a patient eye to the moods of the Parisian and rural landscapes he loved. His canvases, often exhibited at the Salons, conveyed both a refined sense of color and a respect for the craft of painting.

He is remembered for the quiet dignity he gave to each scene, and his memory rests amid the city he depicted with such care at Cimetière de Pantin.
