Olav Bjørnstad steered his crews with calm authority as a coxswain, guiding oarsmen with precision and fostering the mutual trust vital to competitive rowing. He embraced the leadership role with humility, always attuned to the rhythm of each stroke and the safety of his fellow athletes.

Through the years, his skillful direction of teams has been fondly remembered by those who come to Gamlebyen gravlund, where he rests among other figures of Norway’s sporting heritage.
