Biography
Born to Greek-American parents whose immigrant journeys shaped her empathy, Olympia Dukakis began performing in community theater and soon became a luminous presence on Broadway and in regional theaters.
She brought that theatrical depth to film and television, earning widespread praise and an Academy Award for her role in Moonstruck while remaining dedicated to nurturing regional theater and speaking out on humanitarian causes; she rests at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
