Biography

Ōno Norichika was a skilled clockmaker who practiced his craft during the late Edo and early Meiji periods in Japan. Born in 1820 in Nagara, he represented the technical expertise and craftsmanship that characterized Japanese artisans of his era.

As a clockmaker, Norichika contributed to the technological and cultural exchange of the period, as timekeeping instruments were among the valued technologies of the time. He lived until 1886, witnessing Japan's rapid modernization and the evolution of his craft throughout his lifetime.
