Orange Jacobs journeyed westward and embraced the frontier's many demands, eventually shaping the emerging legal and civic order through his work in the territorial legislature and on the bench.

When he died in 1914, he left behind a reputation for measured counsel, and his grave at Mount Pleasant Cemetery stands as a quiet reminder of the early governance he helped provide.
