Biography

Orion Alexander Bartholomew was born in 1837 and spent his life tending to the bonds of family and neighborhood as Cleveland matured into a major American city. He embraced the quiet work of building community, offering support and encouragement through the trials of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Bartholomew died in 1919, and family and friends cherish memories of his loyalty and kindness; he was interred at Lakewood Cemetery, resting among the many who shared his commitment to the city’s future.
