Orlando Henderson Petty, trained as a physician, brought healing hands to his community before representing them in Congress, never losing sight of the patients whose needs first drew him to public life.
He is remembered for grounding national debates in the realities of everyday health and for returning to Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church Cemetery as a symbol of the compassion he offered.
