Biography

Osborn Elliott spent decades shaping American journalism as a respected editor and writer, most notably guiding Newsweek from 1961 to 1976. Under his stewardship the magazine expanded international coverage and became a touchstone for thoughtful reporting on politics, culture, and global affairs.

He returned often to Stonington to share lessons with young writers and to champion civic causes, always insisting that public trust is earned by listening, asking tough questions, and reporting with integrity.
