Oscar Dolch

1876–1943 (age 67)

Biography

Oscar Dolch was born in 1876 and devoted his life to the exacting craft of design engineering in Prague, where the city’s growing industries demanded both creativity and resolve. In the early years of the twentieth century he helped shape the capital’s infrastructure with a steady hand, drawing from a deep appreciation for technical detail and a desire to make civic spaces work better for everyone.

As Europe descended into the tensions of the 1930s and 1940s, he remained committed to his work and the community around him, quietly supporting colleagues and neighbors with the same care he brought to his drawings. When he passed in 1943, he was laid to rest in the Evangelical Cemetery in Praha-Strašnice, where his legacy endures through the structures and sense of civic pride he helped instill.
