Otto Bernatzik

1892–1916 (age 24)

Biography

Otto Bernatzik applied his skills as an engineer to improve transportation and utilities at a time when Vienna was expanding beyond its old boundaries. He took pride in creating durable bridges and systematic waterworks, favoring steady craftsmanship over costly spectacle.

Outside of his workshops he listened to neighbors, offered training to young apprentices, and is still recalled in Heiligenstädter Friedhof as a reliable problem-solver.
