Paris Gibson was born in 1830 and envisioned a thriving city along the Missouri River, laying the foundations for Great Falls by promoting irrigation, mills, and industry. He believed deeply in the power of entrepreneurship paired with thoughtful planning, and he labored to bring energy, opportunity, and civic pride to the region.

He later represented Montana in the U.S. Senate, where he championed conservation, infrastructure, and policies that advanced life in the new state while continuing to advocate for his beloved city.
