Pat Malone thrilled baseball fans with his fierce fastball and winning smile, anchoring the pitching staff of the Chicago Cubs in the early 1930s and becoming a beloved figure on and off the field.
Even after his playing days he remained a friend to young athletes, and those who loved him honor his memory each year at Milan Cemetery.
