Biography
Pat Sullivan, born in Australia, became a celebrated cartoonist and animator whose studio in New York produced popular comic strips and animated shorts. He is best known for creating Felix the Cat, whose expressive face and mischievous adventures delighted audiences in newspapers and in the earliest animated films.
Sullivan worked closely with artists and animators of the day, helping to refine the craft of timing and storytelling that would become central to American animation, and his characters appeared on screens and in merchandise around the world. Although his life ended at a relatively young age, the joy his characters brought to families continues to be remembered.
