Kentucky-born Patricia Neal brought a luminous blend of strength and sensitivity to Broadway and Hollywood, earning an Academy Award for Hud and standout performances in The Day the Earth Stood Still, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and other classics. She balanced a luminous screen presence with a lifelong love of theater, returning to the stage for work that showcased her deep emotional warmth and sharp wit.

After surviving a debilitating stroke in the 1960s, she became an outspoken advocate for those with disabilities and found solace in the Abbey of Regina Laudis, where the contemplative community embraced her artistic spirit; she spent her later years mentoring young performers and championing the Abbey’s commitment to the arts and spiritual life.
