Biography

Patrick Edward Connor was born in 1820 and emigrated from Ireland to serve in the United States Army, eventually rising to the rank of general during the Civil War and beyond, guiding troops and communities across the West.

He died in 1891 and is interred at Fort Douglas Post Cemetery, where the legacy of his long military service—including the founding of Fort Douglas and his efforts to maintain order in unsettled territories—is remembered with respect.
