Patrick MacDowell

Biography

Patrick MacDowell (1799–1870) was a sculptor of considerable talent whose works adorned public spaces and private collections throughout the nineteenth century. His artistic contributions reflected the aesthetic values and commemorative traditions of the Victorian era.

MacDowell's sculptures demonstrated his mastery of form and his ability to capture the spirit of his subjects. His interment in Highgate Cemetery reflects the esteem in which his artistic achievements were held by his contemporaries.
