Biography

Paul Raud (1865-1930) was an artist whose canvases drew from the quiet rhythms of rural life and the luminous hues of the Estonian countryside. After training in Europe, he returned home to nurture a national artistic voice, offering tender yet bold portrayals of people and nature.

Throughout his career he balanced a reverence for tradition with an openness to innovation, guiding younger artists by example and through mentorship. His memory lives on at Rahumäe Cemetery, where admirers recall his lifetime of devotion to painting.
