Biography
Paweł Strzelecki (1797-1873) was a Polish-born scientist and explorer whose discoveries in geography, geology, and meteorology brought new understanding to remote regions, particularly in Australia. He is remembered for naming Mount Kosciuszko and for being among the first Europeans to investigate much of the continent’s interior.
Strzelecki balanced scientific rigor with respect for the lands he studied, and his reports informed both mapping and scientific communities, earning him lasting admiration.
