Biography
Pelham Aldrich, born in 1844, made his mark as a Royal Navy officer and intrepid explorer, serving on expeditions that charted little-known corners of the polar seas. He combined seamanship with scientific curiosity, collecting valuable hydrographic data that informed safer navigation.
Later in his career he continued to advise on surveying missions and to mentor younger officers, taking pride in the knowledge that his work had expanded the worldÆs maps before he passed away in 1930.
