Per Linnemann-Schmidt

1912–1999 (age 87)

Biography

Per Linnemann-Schmidt's hands shaped stone and bronze for much of the twentieth century, making him a steady presence in Denmark's sculptural scene. After studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he embraced both figurative and abstract forms, allowing nature and human stories to meet in public spaces across the country.

He devoted decades to mentoring younger artists, teaching that patience and respect for materials create works that speak across generations, and the quiet paths of Holmen Cemetery now guard the calm of his own resting place.
