Philander Dunham Gillett

Biography

Philander Dunham Gillett (1796–1845) followed a course of thoughtful engagement in the lives of his fellow townsmen, always mindful of how public life affected the hearts of neighbors. His measured counsel and gentle humor brought comfort during the frequent trials of daily life in a growing village.

He was laid to rest in Old Second Street Cemetery, and his presence is still felt through the quiet kindness he extended to others.
