Philaret Voznesensky
1903–1985 (age 82)
Biography
Philaret Voznesensky, born in 1903, guided generations of Orthodox Christians with patience and erudition, serving for decades at Holy Trinity Monastery as spiritual father, confessor, and teacher. His sermons and study groups brought calm clarity to the complexities of exile, faith, and the American experience.
He welcomed countless parishioners to the monastery grounds, translated sacred texts, and insisted that hospitality be the first sign of Gospel living; his earthly pilgrimage ended in 1985, and his memory rests alongside the community he dearly loved.
