Philip Jeremiah Schuyler was a gentleman of Poughkeepsie who lived during the early years of the American republic. Born in 1768, he was part of the merchant and landowning class that shaped the Hudson Valley's development in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
Schuyler's life spanned a transformative period in American history, witnessing the nation's founding and early growth. He was laid to rest in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, where he remains a part of the community he called home.
