Philip Norborne Nicholas

Biography

Philip Norborne Nicholas (1773–1849) was a distinguished Virginia gentleman and public servant who maintained an active role in civic affairs throughout his long life. His service to the Commonwealth reflected the values and responsibilities of Virginia's leadership class during the early republic.

Nicholas' legacy is preserved at Shockoe Hill Cemetery, where he rests among the many influential figures who shaped Richmond and Virginia's history.
