Philip Toosey

1904–1975 (age 71)

Biography

Philip Toosey, born in 1904, built a distinguished military career as a British officer whose leadership during the darkest days of the Second World War became a quiet inspiration for others. While commanding men under the most trying conditions, he maintained a calm authority and a deep respect for the dignity of every soldier under his care.

After the war he translated that same sense of service into civilian life, remaining a figure of integrity and quiet strength until his passing in 1975. His enduring legacy lives on in Landican, where he is remembered as much for his humanity as for his duty.
