Philippe Labrousse, born 1908, trained as a jurist and saw the law as a living safeguard for ordinary people, often taking on cases that others shied away from.

When the Republic was threatened he sided with the oppressed and paid with his life in 1941, and his interment at Cemetery La Chauvinière honors a mind that refused to abandon fairness.
