Biography

Phillips Lee Goldsborough, born in 1865, served Maryland as its 44th governor, championing road construction, financial prudence, and fair taxation that strengthened the state's foundations. He also worked to improve institutions of higher learning and support agrarian communities during his administration.

Later as a U.S. Senator he continued to advocate for responsible government, veterans, and the public welfare during the trying years of the Great Depression, never losing sight of civic virtue. He died in 1946, remembered for steady leadership and a commitment to public service.
