Biography

Pierre-Adolphe Peltier (1819–1877) was a French individual who came of age during the reign of Louis-Philippe and lived through the revolutionary upheavals of 1848 and the subsequent Second Empire. His fifty-eight-year life encompassed some of the most dynamic periods of nineteenth-century French history.

Peltier's burial at Père Lachaise Cemetery reflects his family's social standing in Parisian society. He represents the generation of Frenchmen born in the early nineteenth century who witnessed the nation's evolution toward modernity.
