Biography

Pierre de Ségur came from a family long engaged in the public life of France, and he used his gifts for observation and narration to contribute to the wider literary and historical conversation. His writings offered readers a thoughtful look at society’s currents and at the people who shaped them.

De Ségur died in 1916, and his memory is preserved in the rolling countryside of La Bussiere-Sur-Ouche, where he rests in quiet reflection beside the region whose stories he so carefully recorded.
