Pierre Lorillard III was a prominent tobacco manufacturer and one of the most significant figures in American tobacco commerce during the nineteenth century. As a member of the influential Lorillard family, he inherited and expanded a business legacy that shaped the tobacco industry for generations, establishing standards and practices that influenced the entire trade.

Lorillard's contributions to commerce and industry were substantial and enduring. He maintained his business interests throughout his life and was eventually laid to rest in Green-Wood Cemetery, where he was honored as a major figure in American industrial development.
