Biography

King Prajadhipok, known as Rama VII, reigned as Thailand's seventh monarch from 1925 until his abdication in 1935. Born in 1893, he ascended to the throne during a period of significant political and social change in Thailand. His reign witnessed the transition from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy following the 1932 revolution, a transformative moment that fundamentally altered the governance of the Thai kingdom.

Though his reign was marked by political challenges and constitutional reforms, King Prajadhipok's legacy reflects his efforts to adapt to changing times and his commitment to Thailand's development. After his abdication, he spent his remaining years in exile, passing away in 1941. He is honored at Wat Ratchabophit, and his reign remains an important chapter in Thai history, representing the kingdom's evolution toward modern constitutional governance.
