Prince Friedrich Leopold of Prussia
1895–1954 (age 59)
Biography
Prince Friedrich Leopold of Prussia was a nephew of Emperor Wilhelm II whose artistic gifts guided him away from military life and toward painting, where he found solace and expression. His canvases, suffused with gentle light and careful observation, conveyed a princely calm and a desire to understand the subtleties of landscapes and everyday moments.
After the upheavals of the early twentieth century, he made his home in Switzerland, where he continued to paint and engage with the artistic circles of the Lake Lugano region. His final rest at Castagnola-Cassarate honors both his noble blood and his devotion to art.
