Prince S. Crowell of East Dennis spent much of his life at sea, guiding fishing vessels and sharing the deep knowledge of tides and weather that kept his crews safe.

When on shore he invested in the town's schools and church, ensuring that East Dennis preserved the maritime traditions that defined its identity.
