Biography
Prudencio María Verástegui was a Spanish military officer born in 1747 who served his nation during the latter half of the eighteenth century and the opening years of the nineteenth. His military career spanned a period of significant international conflict and internal Spanish upheaval, including the wars against France and the Peninsular War.
Verástegui dedicated his life to military service during one of Spain's most turbulent eras. He died in 1826, having witnessed the transformation of Spanish military institutions and the nation's struggle to maintain its position in European affairs during the Napoleonic period and its aftermath.
