Pruett Mullens Dennett was among the young airmen who took to the skies during the Great War, earning distinctions as a flying ace as he guided his machine into difficult patrols and protected the ground forces below.
He fell in 1918 but his courage endures in the names etched on the Arras Flying Services Memorial, where comrades and kin pay tribute to his service over the Western Front.
