Biography
R. Heber Newton spent his ministry advocating for faith to meet the pressing social needs of the day, preaching a gospel of compassion and justice. He wrote and spoke widely, encouraging fellow believers to confront inequality and to extend care to the marginalized.
His pastoral influence was tempered by earnest scholarship, and he sought common ground through thoughtful conversation rather than contention. When he passed in 1914, many mourned the loss of his articulate advocacy for moral clarity in a changing world.
