Ralph Wormeley

Biography

Ralph Wormeley (1744–1806) upheld the responsibilities of planter and legislator with a thoughtful sense of stewardship, managing his estate while weighing law and policy with fairness. He promoted education and the arts, believing that an enlightened citizenry could best defend liberty.

He is buried at Christ Church Cemetery, where his descendants remember a deliberate leader whose legacy rests on the care he extended to people and place.
