Raymond Villechanoux
1899–1931 (age 32)
Biography
Raymond Villechanoux belonged to the pioneering generation of aircraft pilots who translated daring into practical progress, flying at a time when the sky was still a frontier. His passion for aviation saw him defend new routes, mentor younger aviators, and participate in the celebrated exhibitions and competitions that advanced flight.
While his years were few, his bravery and commitment to innovation made him a respected figure among early aviators; he now rests in Batignolles Cemetery, where the hush of the grounds echoes the courage of those who first dared to fly.
