Red Edwards

1904–1981 (age 77)

Biography

Red Edwards, nicknamed for his shock of copper hair, was the kind of man who could calm a nervous choir with a joke and then lead the Broad Run Baptist congregation in a hymn. He worked as a mechanic, and neighbors relied on him for honest repairs and steady counsel.

Aside from fixing engines, Red could always be found organizing youth picnics or lending a hand with building maintenance, and he cherished the friendships that bloomed under the church's oaks. He now rests at Broad Run Baptist Church Cemetery, where the laughter he shared still echoes.
