Biography
René Noël Rosse (1767–1826) was a French privateer who operated during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. As a privateer, he served French maritime interests during a period of intense naval conflict between France and Britain, commanding vessels authorized to attack enemy shipping.
Rosse's career on the seas during the Napoleonic period represented the maritime dimension of France's long struggle for supremacy. He was interred in Jeanne-Jugan Cemetery, a final resting place honoring his service to France.
