Biography
Richard Alsop, born in 1761, lived through the upheavals of the Revolution while remaining rooted in the faith of the Flatbush Reformed Dutch Church, where his voice and counsel calmed many in his congregation.
He valued the rituals and fellowship that bound Dutch settlers together, and the Flatbush Reformed Dutch Church Cemetery now holds him among friends and worshippers who gathered around the same steeple.
