Biography
Richard Cary Morse was a long-lived figure of the nineteenth century, witnessing the transformation of America from the early republic through the Civil War and Reconstruction eras. His seventy-three years spanned some of the nation's most consequential decades.
Morse's extended life provided him with a unique perspective on American development and change. He was ultimately laid to rest at Green-Wood Cemetery, where his memory is preserved.
