Richard Tomberg devoted himself to the defense of the homeland, serving with distinction in military units that upheld Estonia's security and trained successive generations of officers.

His discipline and measured counsel became a fixture of the barracks, where he remained a mentor to young soldiers before being laid to rest at Metsakalmistu.
