Richard W. Habersham

Biography

Richard W. Habersham lived from 1786 to 1842, his fifty-six years spanning the early decades of American independence. Born in the year of the Constitutional Convention, he witnessed the nation's early growth and development, particularly in the South where Clarkesville was located.

Habersham's life and legacy are remembered in the Old Clarkesville Cemetery, where he is buried among his community members. His life reflected the experiences of those who lived through the nation's formative period.
