Biography

Robert Applegarth was a trade unionist who spent his life advocating for the dignity and rights of workers. His steady organising, principled advocacy, and belief in dialogue helped establish more equitable conditions for countless labourers in Britain and beyond.

Even in retirement he remained engaged with the labour movement, offering guidance to younger activists and reminding them that solidarity and persistence could achieve lasting progress. His legacy is honoured at West Norwood Cemetery, where visitors recall a life spent advancing justice.
