Biography

Robert Edmund Graves devoted his life to the care and curation of books, serving with distinction as an officer of the British Museum library. A scholar of great patience, he guided cataloguing efforts that made the museum’s holdings more accessible to generations of readers and researchers.

He also wrote extensively on booklore, sharing insights drawn from decades among rare volumes, and those who knew him admired his tireless devotion to knowledge. He now rests in Highgate Cemetery, where his legacy of learning lives on.
