Biography

Robert Edson Dornin (1912–1982) served with courage as a submarine officer, guiding his crew through perilous waters with calm determination. His leadership aboard the Fleet’s silent hunters earned him respect from peers and subordinates alike, and he returned home bearing the quiet confidence of a man who had faced danger yet remained devoted to the ideals he defended.

He later cherished the opportunity to mentor younger sailors and to share the lessons of integrity and teamwork that had defined his career. Those who gathered at Foulke Cemetery remember him as much for his warmth and kindness as for his valor beneath the waves.
